When you've tried various methods to quit smoking and you've still not been successful after one year of attempts, you may want to browse thru this section.  

There are real and valid internal / personal dynamics that have contributed to your lack of success after that length of time.  Usually, the factors contributing to the frustration may seem to be quite removed from the habit itself and therefore overlooked or discounted.  Unless you look for, identify and work through these dynamics, the results will continue to be less than satisfactory.  

Smoking can be perceived (perhaps unconsciously) as a means of self- soothing.  As such, the nature and pattern of "smoking urges" will provide the means to identify these areas of discomfort, seek out the source and eliminate the thoughts, feelings and, most importantly, the behaviors associated with that discomfort.

Alcohol and Other Drug Recovery           

Congratulations.  Now that you've made it at least through your first most difficult, but probably interesting, continuous year of being clean and sober, you may be "white knuckling" more than you'd anticipated.  Or perhaps you're noticing continuing urges to drink or use and can't understand why it's still this way after all your time and efforts.  Regardless, your tranquility is shaken and day to day life is more difficult than necessary.  

Your drug of choice served as a means of problem solving.  Probably for a long time.  New behaviors can eventually lead to new patterns of thinking and behaving.  Blocks to these changes, when emotionally based, can seem confusing and illogical.  This usually results in a 're-doubling' of efforts to effect change.  This 're-doubling' can only occur so many times before excessive amounts of our internal resources are being directed to the problem and suddenly other areas needing attention are left wanting.  The result is a sense of being "spread too thinly" to be effective feel comfortable in daily life.  Sound familiar?  

The patterns of experiences can be the clues to identifying and eliminating these emotionally based energy diverters.
